Experience Switzerland - so much more than cuckoo clocks and chocolates

In so many ways, Germany and Switzerland are like chalk-and-cheese - not withstanding the passion that they both share for their national cheeses, especially in their mountain areas. Whilst a Swiss-German will understand everything that a native German is saying when he/she is talking, many Germans can only understand a fraction of what is being said when two Swiss are speaking 'Schwyzerduetsch' with each other...but there again, the regional accents within what is known generally as the German-speaking part of Switzerland, where different dialect words can vary from one valley to the next, are so different from each other that they occasionally have some difficulty understanding each other, let alone someone from the other side of the border.

Switzerland overall combines beautifully with Germany, especially around the Bodensee (known in English as Lake Constance), which straddles not only the Swiss-German border, but also sits on the German-Austrian border as well. It is also a marvellous transit country for a longer journey of discovery through Europe down to Italy, whether driving, or taking the train.

We are delighted to help you with your planning for a twin- or multi-country tour that shows you the very best of Switzerland's very diverse regions - whether German-, French-, Italian, or even Romansch-speaking areas, and combining these with exploring many of Germany's wonderful areas to show you the best of both countries.

Discover the holiday opportunities throughout Switzerland and experience for yourselves how beautifully these countries work together.
