Accessibility: Our website
Great Experience Travel is committed to ensuring its website is accessible to all users. Making our website accessible is a core aim of the design of our website, and we will try and ensure that it is usable with a broad range of operating systems, browsers, and specialist assistive technologies. As our site is constantly reviewed we would welcome any comments you may have on accessibility issues.
We recommend using the most uptodate version of Google Chrome, or other browsers, to provide you with the highest level of browser accessibility. If you are blind or visually impaired we recommend JAWS for Windows version 3.31 or later for the best speech synthesis.
In keeping with our policy of customers first, and our obligations under the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act), we try to ensure that our website is accessible to people who have visual, hearing, motor or cognitive impairments.
As a standard, we employ all the following methods to ensure our site is accessible to as many people as possible:
Browsealoud is available to ensure that all pages can be read out loud to any visitor. This is a 3rd party piece of software, which is available to download from their website, www.texthelp.com/en-gb/products/browsealoud, and will work once you set up a suitable account.
With most browsers, there is an easy to use text-resizer on all pages for those with javascript enabled on their computers. Our pages allow for text resizing using the View – Text Size option in the browser toolbar for those who do not have javascript enabled.
Subject to your browser, The website can be viewed using a variety of colour schemes ensuring it can be used by visitors who find the existing colour scheme hard to read. For more information visit, http://www.bbc.co.uk/accessibility/guides/change_colours/browser/win/
We are committed to Plain English in all our written content, and where we are obliged to provide certain pieces of technical information, we strive to make the terms that we use as generally-understandable as possible.
Our site has been designed without the use of tables except where we need to represent normally tabulated content i.e prices.
The website can be navigated without the use of a mouse using different methods -. For more information, please visit https://www.nngroup.com/articles/keyboard-accessibility/
A non-serif font has been used throughout for easier readability.
We do not use all-capitals for emphasis. Where we wish to emphasise a certain section of the text, this has been represented in bold.
We use a hierarchy of heading markups i.e an, tag for main headings, for secondary headings etc. which makes it easier for screen readers to work out the stucture of a page.
Our site can be viewed in a logical order when all styling is turned off. This happens by default if you turn off Styling in the browser. The site will default to black text on a white background,
To find out more about making your computer more accessible and easier to use, we recommend you look at the Ability Net's website, https://www.abilitynet.org.uk, where they have provided a range of tips and suggestions relating to accessibility issues.
Accessibility: Holidays and travel arrangements
Great Experience Travel is also committed to ensuring as many of our holidays as practically possible are open to all travellers, including those with a disability or who are restricted in their mobility. However, there are clearly some types of holiday, for example those that involve a lot of walking or strenuous activity, such as a skiing or lakes & mountains holiday, or travelling to some countries which are culturally less 'sympathetic' to those people who are disabled in any way, which are less suited to travellers if they are limited in their movement. This does not mean, however, that passengers with a disability or who are restricted in their mobility cannot take or enjoy this type of holiday or to these destinations, only that they should be aware, before booking, that they may find the holidays more difficult to enjoy for reasons beyond their or our control.
We will always use our knowledge and experience to ensure that you receive the best advice possible when making your travel plans. This includes recommending making your accommodation and travel bookings through tour operators that specialise in providing holidays for travellers with a range of disabilities or mobility issues.
For detailed information for customers with disabilities, we recommend that you use the ABTA checklist, Checklist for Disabled and Less Mobile Passengers, as part of your preparations for travel. This is available from
www.abta.com. If you or any member of your party have any disabilities, it is extremely important that we make the necessary arrangements to make your holiday go smoothly. We must therefore insist that you contact our offices on 01993 6227712 before completing any reservation to ensure compatibility for the holiday that you chose.
